作品概要

This project explores the potential of developing an architectural model that can guide the design of new public housing complexes and the repurposing of existing housing units to adapt to the post-pandemic era. The aim is to examine the changes in the spatial configuration of housing units and the activity patterns of their users to determine the trend toward post-pandemic housing. This was done by conducting an extensive analysis of Housing and Development Board (HDB) housing units around Singapore and a comparative analysis of danchi units by Urban Renaissance (UR) in Tokyo. Through this process, the researcher was able to uncover the architectural theory that has evolved from people’s adaptive lifestyles during the pandemic and apply these insights in proposing a new layout of residential units for danchis in Japan.
